Generation Giver.

“People grow old only by deserting their ideals, Macarthur had written. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up interest wrinkles the soul. You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope as old as your despair. In the central place of every heart there is a recording chamber. So long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer and courage, so long are you young. When your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then, and then only, are you grown old. And then, indeed as the ballad says, you just fade away.”

History is determined by the generations that lived it...our success and failure are in direct correlation with what we have done with the time we were given...we are our own problem but also our own solution...Baby boomers had their wars and ideals, generation x had their expression of peace and freedom..generation y saw the birth of mtv and technology and now this generation, the one we're all living..this time we have now..looking back of the road we've traveled, what have we done...what do we want the future generations say as they look back at history..are we going to known for our fast food rather than our good deeds..do we want to be known for our fraps and lattes rather than our acts of justice...do want our history painted with our excess rather than our ability to be a source hope for a dying world...because in the end of it all, ideals or good intentions will not save our world, actions will..our ability to put worth on our words..our ability to not just be moved but to actually move and mobilize others...our biggest problem is distraction, i believe that we all have the ability to do something but we just lose focus..we tend shrink our world and make its sole purpose to be for our comfort...for our benefit..we chose to be self-serving, at times selfish and the worst part is, we become accustomed to it...we numbed ourselves from the issues going on in Africa, the wars going on in the Middle east, disasters in Asia..we chose to turn it off, to change the channel..we chose to be apathetic..i know because i am the same way..like the song 'i am the problem'...there is no easy way to it...there is no erase or undo or delete button...what we do now, with our hands, our resources, our ideas will greatly determine the history of today, therefore lets make it worth it, let us resound hope that future generations will echo the hearts of this generation..a generation that gives.
